Wissahickon Restoration Volunteers Presents:
A Dialog with Leslie Jones Sauer
“Natural Restoration in the Wissahickon and Central America”
Tuesday June 17, 7:00- 9:00 p.m.
Crossroads Coffee House
6156 Ridge Avenue
Leslie Sauer is an Ecological Restoration Specialist and founder emeritus of Andropogon Associates, based in Manayunk. She is the author of The Once and Future Forest, A Guide to Forest Restoration Strategies, and a pioneer in the field of restoring and managing native landscapes.
Leslie’s talk is an introduction to the Plant Stewardship Index (PSI), a system for monitoring the degree of “wildness” of a natural area. WRV is beginning to use the PSI in planning an evaluating its work in restoring forest areas of the Wissahickon.
Leslie will also speak about her natural restoration work in Central America, the winter home of many of the breeding birds of the Wissahickon Valley.
Crossroads Coffee House serves good food and beverages in a beautiful building that was former home of Forster’s Shoe Store in downtown Roxborough.
