Wissahickon Restoration Volunteers

abington friendsAbington Friends at Wises Mill

INDIVIDUALS

Join us on any 1st Saturday or 3rd Sunday from 10 AM - Noon of each month to take part in our on-going restoration activities. Pulling vines, removing exotic invasive plants, planting trees and shrubs, and trail repair are all ways that volunteers are helping to restore the Wissahickon Park.

Our calendar provides project details and directions, or sign up to receive email notices of upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.

WRV provides the necessary tools and gloves. Volunteers should bring their own water and should dress appropriately (long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and sturdy shoes). Restoration activities are cancelled in the event of severe weather. Please RSVP, if possible, so we have an idea of how many volunteers to expect and we can call you if weather cancels.

Other volunteer opportunities exist. Seasoned volunteers become volunteer crew leaders, training provided. Volunteers help monitor past restoration sites, and survey future project sites. Or perhaps you want to help in the East Falls office once a month. You can also volunteer from home, helping write press releases, or providing graphic design work and website maintenance. Call 215-951-0330 x2101 to discuss the possibilities.
